The School of the Word is the Bible-teaching ministry of Victory Bible Church International – North America. It helps believers move from simply hearing sermons to understanding, applying and teaching the Scriptures for themselves.
Why a School of the Word?
VBCI believes that the Holy Bible is “the sole and final authority on all matters of Christian faith and conduct” (see Our Beliefs). If the Bible is our authority, then every believer needs to know it well. Paul told Timothy to “study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). The School of the Word exists to help believers do exactly that.
What You Can Learn
- Foundations of faith – salvation, water baptism, the Holy Spirit, prayer and the Christian life.
- Bible study skills – how to read a passage in context, find cross-references and apply what you learn.
- Doctrine – what the church believes and why, drawn directly from Scripture.
- Service and leadership – preparing believers to teach, lead small groups and serve in ministry.
Growing Into Maturity
VBCI focuses on growing people by bringing them to Jesus as members, building them up to maturity, training them for ministry, sending them out on mission and releasing them to magnify the Lord. The School of the Word is a key part of the “maturity” and “ministry” steps. It also reflects the church’s values of application of Scripture and continual learning.
