This page keeps a record of Day 1 of the VBCI North America Camp Meeting 2018, which opened on Thursday, 9 August 2018. Camp meetings are among the region’s most important gatherings, bringing members from many branches together for worship, the Word and prayer.
What Is a Camp Meeting?
A camp meeting is an extended gathering – usually several days – set aside to seek God together. The tradition has deep roots in revival history, when believers travelled from far and wide to camp, pray and hear preaching. Today the format looks different, but the purpose is the same: to step away from ordinary routines and give focused time to God, to fellowship and to spiritual renewal.
Highlights of a VBCI Camp Meeting
- Praise and worship – extended times of worship, reflecting VBCI’s value of praise and worship.
- Teaching and preaching – messages from VBCI leaders and ministers.
- Prayer – corporate prayer for individuals, families, the church and the nations.
- Fellowship – meeting brothers and sisters from other branches across North America.
